La Maggiolata

The Maggiolata of Lucignano

#
The Maggiolata is held every year on the last two Sundays of May. The Maggiolata is the festival of flowers to honor the arrival of the spring. The village of Lucignano is covered with floral compositions, abounding in the yellow color of the ginestre, which is called “May”. Allegorical chariots belonging to the four districts pass through the alleys and compete for the prize for the most beautiful chariot. They are preceded by a historical procession that starts the party. The entire event includes performances by bands and folk groups coming from all over Italy and abroad.
